First Day of Sheiko Template

I have to say, my initial reaction to Sheiko's 4 day template is one of mild hatred for the man. I can handle serious squat volume, having spent the last 4 months squatting 3 days a week even when sick, but today was tough.

I've been curious about Sheiko's work for quite a while now. With his programming catching the eye of many successful IPF lifters, I decided the only way to make a judgement would be to try it. Many lifters using this template quote gym time at upwards of 2 hours a session, a little higher than I'm used to. I cruised through it in about an hour and a half and paid the price! Part of the reason for my speed was the lack of equipment, being a raw lifter. Part of it was also getting home for lunch.

Although this template doesn't seem as bad as something like the Smolov, it really is a smoker. The volume is what kills. I was surprised at the toll it took, even though I never went above 315 on squat, which is a light lift for me. Here's a rough overview of how the lifts went:

Squat-
185 x 5
235 x 4,4
275 x 2,2,2
315 x 5 x 2

Bench-
135 x 5
145 x 4,4
165 x 3,3
185 x 6 x 3

Squat (again)-
185 x 5
235 x 4
275 x 5 x 4

D.B. Bench-
70 x 8
50 x 4 x 10

That's it! Doesn't look like much on paper, which caught me way off gaurd when it took for ever to finish! Tomorrow is deadlift day. Needless to say, I'm a bit nervous.
